Can you pay by credit card on public transport in Antalya?
Short answer: you cannot tap a bank or credit card directly on Antalya’s city transport. Every line — buses, the AntRay tram and the nostalgic tram — uses a rechargeable smart card called AntalyaKart. You touch the card to the turnstile and the fare is deducted automatically.
What is AntalyaKart and where do you buy it?
AntalyaKart is the city’s contactless NFC card. You can pick one up from the vending machines at the AntRay tram station inside the airport, from sales points at the main stops and stations downtown, from authorised dealers and from some shops and kiosks. You load any amount you like onto it, and when the balance runs low you simply top it up at the same points.
Is there a single-use ticket?
For short visits, some sales points offer a single-ride paper ticket, so you are not forced to buy a full card for one trip. If you are staying several days and making more than a couple of journeys, though, a loaded card is far more convenient and usually a little cheaper per ride.
