Do you have to tip the driver during a transfer?
Short answer: no. Tipping the driver is not compulsory for private transfers or airport meet-and-greet services in Turkey. The fare is charged as the fixed amount agreed when you book, so there is no expectation of a tip on top of it.
Tipping culture in Turkey
Leaving a tip for public-transport staff or ordinary taxi drivers is not a strong habit in Turkey. With a private transfer the payment is settled in advance, which means any tip is entirely your own choice rather than something built into the service.
When a tip feels appropriate
It is completely optional and only ever a way of showing that you were happy with the service. Many travellers like to offer a small gesture when:
- the driver was especially helpful with heavy luggage
- the ride was comfortable and arrived on time
- the driver waited patiently even though the flight was delayed
If you do decide to tip, cash is the simplest way for it to reach the driver directly, and foreign currency is usually accepted without any problem.
Why a fixed fare puts your mind at ease
With a private transfer the price is transparent and fixed — there is no meter ticking away and no surprise at the end of the trip as there can be in a taxi. With Duru VIP Transfer the amount is confirmed when you book, it does not change along the route, and your driver greets you at the terminal exit. Whether or not you add a tip is left entirely to you.
