Above the waterline, the ruins of ancient Antiphellos — Kaş' predecessor — are scattered among the modern town. A small Roman theatre survives in remarkable condition just minutes from the main square, while Lycian rock-cut tombs carved into the cliff face loom over the harbour. Day trips radiate outward in every direction: to the sunken city of Kekova by boat, to the great beach at Patara, to the troglodyte ruins of Myra at Demre, and along the beginning stretches of the famous Lycian Way long-distance trail.

Some of the best small properties have only four or five rooms and are perennially full in peak season.

ATM availability in Kaş is limited compared to larger resorts, so carrying some cash is wise. The harbour promenade and the lanes behind it have a good selection of restaurants and cafes, most of which are independently run. For dive equipment, all reputable centres provide full rental gear; bringing your own mask and fins is always appreciated but not necessary.
